Summary 0002825: Missing driver for new board AMD 770 Realtek r8168
Description Kernel doesn't have the realtek driver r8168 available resulting in no connectivity for AMD 770 as implemented by Gigabyte.
Gigabyte appears not to support Linux very well as neither does AMD (on this board, maybe I need to purchase my boards from someone else!)
I was able to get Linux drivers from realtek and compliled and installed them, but they are not supported by the kernel and when updates come in, I lose connectivity.
Additional Information I have verified this on 86X64.

The adequate driver for Realtek R8168 is not included in our upstream's kernel, therefore will not exist in centos kernel either. At least not until they include it.
As a sidenote, my preliminary tests show that the next distribution update will include a modified r8169 driver which correctly supports r8168, too.

As pointed out by wolfy, CentOS cannot modify the distro kernel on its own. In this particular case, the best solution is to install the kABI-tracking kernel module for the r8168 driver from ELRepo (http://elrepo.org). [^] There will be no need to reinstall for each kernel update.
