| Summary | 0003960: latest samba breaks use of the credential file | |||||||||||
| Description |
When samba was updated to the latest version: samba-3.0.33-3.15.el5_4.x86_64 samba-client-3.0.33-3.15.el5_4.x86_64 the credential file stopped working. This was earlier reported on the mailing list: http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/2009-November/084908.html [^] A workaround is offered in a followup post of that thread. |

This bug is being tracked upstream: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=532153 [^] (RHEL5) https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=532094 [^] (RHEL4) Note: a patch was provided in the second bugzilla. |

I have rebuilt samba for CentOS-5 using the patch provided in the upstream bugzilla. They are available for your testing: http://centos.toracat.org/misc/testing/samba/ [^] With this patched version, the credential file worked fine again. |

The upstream bugzilla is now tagged with "regression" and marked "urgent". An updated version is rc. |

Also experiencing this issue after most recent 5.4 updates. Wanted to note the workaround provided here (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=532153#c19) [^] worked for me. |

> Also experiencing this issue after most recent 5.4 updates. Right. Upstream has not released the patched version of samba yet. I supposed they are QA'ing it now (hence marked 'rc'). |
