Summary0005220: virtio network adapter trouble after a live migration with Windows Server 2008 R2 (SP1)
DescriptionI also submitted a similar problem at:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=750786 [^]
When I migrate a Windows Server 2008 R2 (SP1) VM from host1 to host2 then when trying to change a network adapter property like "Offload Tx IP checksum" the VM crashes.
When rebooting the VM from within Windows the VM "turns off" instead of "restarting"

before the live migration I can change a adapter property and reboot the VM.

-When I do the same on a windows server 2003 R2 (SP2) server I do not encounter these problems.
-On Centos5.7 I do not encounter these problems
-When using a <model type='e1000'/> instead of <model type='virtio'/> I do not encounter these problems
- I tried both virtio version 60.62.102.2000 (10-8-2011) and 6.0.209.605 (20-9-2010) with the same result (failure)
Steps To Reproduce1)Start a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 VM with a virtio network adapter and driver
2)Perform a live migration from host1 to host2
3)logon to the VM using virt-manager
4)try to change an network adapter property or reboot the server
Additional Information-The file system is GFS2
-There are two network bonds in 802.3ad mode. 1 bond is used for KVM networking. The other is used for host access, clustering and disk synchronization (using drbd)

I have located the problem to be kernel module vhost_net related.

When I start the VM using
...
<interface type='bridge'>
  <mac address='54:52:00:5e:8f:d7'/>
  <source bridge='br110'/>
  <model type='virtio'/>
  <driver name='qemu'/>
<interface/>
...
The live migration works just as expected. and I don't experience the above mentioned problems.
