Summary

0005953: CentOS does not install EFI, but RHEL does

Description

I boot the install DVD on a system with a RAID volume with no partition table and install CentOS. CentOS installs legacy MBR, but RHEL installs GPT along with the EFI system partition. If I manually create the GPT with "parted -label gpt" before doing the install, CentOS will use it, but still will not create the EFI system partition (so system will not boot).

Ideal would be if the installer offered MBR / GPT-EFI choice as an option to the user.

(I notice also that the CentOS install DVD itself boots in legacy mode, but RHEL boots in EFI mode. I don't really care about this as long as systems continue to support booting legacy mode.)

(0015778) jhallen (reporter) 2012-09-14 21:39	Not sure this is really a dup: the 5387 issue seems to have to do with booting the ISO image in EFI mode, not booting the installed CentOS from the hard drive, which is what my bug is about.
