I reloaded the OS from scratch with minimal install, testing both before and after installing software updates and rebooting. Same result.

I loaded 7.2 ( build 1511 ). Same result.

I loaded 6.9. This build worked without issue. So I am guessing there is some driver or issue between my system and 7.x ?? Willl have to look into it when time permits.

Thank you for pointing out the failed notices. I am new to CentOS - transitioning over from having worked with Solaris for some time.

Happy holidays to all. Thanks.

Something like the following followed by narrowing down with further grepping can help:

egrep -i '(ERR|FAIL|BAD|BIOS|FIRM|BUG)' /var/log/*
