|Summary||0014294: Minimal Web Server installation is mostly broken|
|Description||I'm trying to setup a local CentOS 7 VM to test upgrading PHP and MediaWiki on a production CentOS 7 VM.|
At the CentOS setup screen, I selected "Minimal Web Server" in the left hand pane.
At the CentOS setup screen, I selected the following components in the right hand pane.
- Guest Agent
After the install and reboot occurred the machine was unusable. First, 'yum update' failed because networking was not enabled.
Second, Emacs was not installed, so it was _incredibly_ painful to create and edit configuration files. I had to use Echo, Sed and Awk.
Third, Apaphe is not running. I'm working on this problem now, so I don't know what problems are going to follow.
It seems to me when I asked for a "Minimal Web Server" and selected components like PHP and MariaDB, those components should be installed, minimally configured and running.
To put this in perspective, some has posited the position:
- Someone wants a web server
- Someone wants a database
- But they don't want networking
- But they don't want the web server running
- But they don't want PHP or Python to work
Who the hell would claim someone who wants a basic web server does not want networking or httpd running? Its either a ridiculous or insulting position to take.
|Steps To Reproduce||Install CentOS 7|

To your "network issue" - the release notes and the wiki state in various places, that you need to enable your network during install when not installing from network. This is the case since the initial release of CentOS-6 and 7.
Second, what happened to "vi" as editor?
Third, I haven't tested with RHEL, but CentOS usually behaves the same. IMHO its good to first be able to configure your webserver or database, before this starts automatically is not configured at all.
