Summary0015277: rsyslog-5.8.10-12.0.1.el6.x86_64 stops accepting logs from various subsystems
Descriptionrsyslog-5.8.10-12.0.1.el6.x86_64 stops accepting logs from various subsystems. As there are:
- Postfix
- System itself
- any other

Trying to send a log using /dev/log with logger leads to:
# LANG=CC logger -u /dev/log -t mail TEST
connect: Protocol wrong type for socket.

Postfix in debug mode shows some same error, as do all others wanting to connect to /dev/log.
Steps To ReproduceInstall CentOS, upgrade to the latest versions.

Logging stops after rsyslogd restarted.
Additional InformationDowngrading rsyslogd helps, as switching to an other logging daemon.

As you allready stated this is also present in RHEL6.10 - please raise an issue against rsyslog in RedHats bugzilla. Once/if RH fixes this, CentOS will inherit the fix.
