Summary0015759: NFS
DescriptionWe are seeing NFS v4 Lock reclaim failed errors in /var/log/messages and when ever we see this, we are seeing our application gets into hung state and crashes.

kernel: NFS: nfs4_reclaim_open_state: Lock reclaim failed!
kernel: NFS: nfs4_reclaim_open_state: Lock reclaim failed!

We are using CentOS Linux release 7.5.1804 (Core) and Kernel 3.10.0-862.14.4.el7.x86_64.

We modified the fstab entries for nfs mount to below after browsing the web. We added sync and noresvport:

nfs4 nfsvers=4.1,rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,hard,timeo=600,retrans=2,sync,noresvport 0 0

The NFS is Amazon EFS service and they say that there are no issues found at their end.

Could you please let us know why the Lock reclaim failed errors are seen and how to resolve this issue?

First - please update to the current version of CentOS - 7.5 and its kernels are no longer current. 7.6 is. Today there has also been a kernel update (.5.1) so you might want to wait until that is released - so only one reboot needed. Please retry afterwards.

I am having this issue as well "NFS: nfs4_reclaim_open_state: Lock reclaim failed!"

I am currently running : CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908
Fully updated via yum.

It appears to run fine for 2-3 days, then any server using the NFS share begins logging these errors to messages. The only solution is to unmount all shares, reboot the NFS, and reattach all shares.

Is there something I may have configured wrong, or is there something else I should look at?

my shares are configured in fstab with : noacl,nocto,rsize=32768,wsize=32768

thank you for any feedback.
