rpm -Uvh
curl: (60) Peer's Certificate issuer is not recognized.
More details here:

curl performs SSL certificate verification by default, using a "bundle"
of Certificate Authority (CA) public keys (CA certs). If the default
bundle file isn't adequate, you can specify an alternate file
 using the --cacert option.
If this HTTPS server uses a certificate signed by a CA represented in
the bundle, the certificate verification probably failed due to a
problem with the certificate (it might be expired, or the name might
not match the domain name in the URL).
If you'd like to turn off curl's verification of the certificate, use
 the -k (or --insecure) option.
error: skipping - transfer failed

There is no certificate involved in nor
There is also no need to setup manually centos-release ..
So all that leads to think that you have a non standard setup and a MITM proxy redirecting you somewhere that is *not* in the infra (and so not managed by us)

Like that host you mention : isn't at all in centos nor is known as an official and verified CentOS mirror (

It seems you're using a proxy, so speak to your system and network administrator ? "Proxy request sent ..."

waiting on feedback and closing if nothing proves there is something related to centos infra

I've disabled proxy settings for yum by removing proxy settings - but still I'm getting same error.

administrator   ~0034016 isn't a support mechanism.
You should ask your network administrator why there is a MITM proxy and if you need help, consider asking on the centos mailing-list ( or the #centos irc channel on
