|Target Version||Fixed in Version|
|Summary||0015984: sha256sum.txt does not contain checksum of latest image|
|Description||If I download the CentOS image from the url "http://cloud.centos.org/centos/7/images/CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud.qcow2", then I get the latest version. That is nice, in some ways. I guess it is a symlink to another file in that directory. Currently it seems to be "CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud-1901.qcow2".|
Unfortunately, the name "CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud.qcow2" is not in the files that record the checksums, such as "sha256sum.txt". Only the versioned files are. But if you download the latest version, you don't know which version you got, so you can't verify the checksum.
My use case is more precisely this: I would like to know the checksum of the file that I would be downloading, to compare it with the checksum I have of a local file. Without actually downloading the image file if the checksums match.
Would it be possible to add the name and checksum of the unversioned latest name "CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud.qcow2" to "sha256sum.txt"? Adding some kind of record to "image-index" would perhaps be useful too, but I don't think it helps for my purpose.
Thanks in advance!
|Steps To Reproduce||$ wget http://cloud.centos.org/centos/7/images/CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud.qcow2 -O CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud.qcow2|
$ wget http://cloud.centos.org/centos/7/images/sha256sum.txt -O sha256sum.txt
$ grep CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud.qcow2 sha256sum.txt
$ # <no result>
