Summary0016529: smbclient always reports a 'mkdir failed on directory' error when run
DescriptionAs of the latest version of samba-common, running smbclient always produces an error message about mkdir failing, although smbclient appears to otherwise work. Eg:

 [cks@cksvm2 ~]$ smbclient //smb.cs.toronto.edu/homes -U ckstst
mkdir failed on directory /var/lib/samba/lock/msg.lock: Permission denied
 Unable to initialize messaging context
 Enter SAMBA\ckstst's password:

This is with the following Samba package versions:
samba-client-4.9.1-6.el7.x86_64
samba-common-4.9.1-6.el7.noarch
samba-client-libs-4.9.1-6.el7.x86_64
samba-common-libs-4.9.1-6.el7.x86_64

This didn't occur with previous versions of CentOS 7's samba packages; it started happening only after the update to 7.7-1908.

This appears to be a known upstream bug: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13925 and is also reported in Debian: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=931688
Steps To ReproduceInstall a CentOS 7 machine and then samba-common, then run smbclient against either a real Samba server or any random machine, including localhost:

 [cks@cksvm2 ~]$ smbclient //localhost/homes -U test
mkdir failed on directory /var/lib/samba/lock/msg.lock: Permission denied
 Unable to initialize messaging context
do_connect: Connection to localhost failed (Error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED)
