Summary0016543: Unreliable graphical file operations on classic desktop
DescriptionWhen using the classical desktop, a new folder can be created, but only with the default file name "New Folder." If you right-click and select rename, the rename operation looks ok until applied but no change is made to the name. If the desktop is right-clicked and "Show Desktop in Files" is selected, the rename proceeds as expected within the Files app. This behavior is consistent and reproducable. I also experienced many irregularities while selecting and dragging files leading me to believe that some sub-processes are crashing causing abnormal responses. One of these is the use of control-click to add a file or folder selection to a group selection. At times control-click stopped working and required exiting and restarting the Files app to regain the operation. Click and drag on the desktop seemed erratic at best and was much better within the Files app, but I experienced lost files and folders even there. These issues are random and non-reproducable. This hardware was just prior to CentOS-8 installation using the latest Debian without issues.
