bash keeps crashing. No login for accounts using bash. No remote login using ssh. scp and sftp do not work either. Random crashes with various other software depending on libc.

Observed on at now nine systems. All showing the same behavior. Two systems where newly set up. Looked like this where gone, but it started some time later, as with the others.

Seen too with:
  * CentOS 6.10 (nine systems)
  * Oracle Linux 6.10 (fife systems)
  * Scientific Linux 6.10 (two systems)

Seen with packages:

Solved by removing all rpms bash and bash-completion depend on, Checking they are completely removed, then reinstalling them. A simple reinstall with

yum reinstall bash bash-completion

did not help. Looks like there was some old script, once necessary to work around some deficiency, left over which made bash recurs until it broke at some circumstances.
