Summary0017317: Unable to PXEBoot CentOS 8 Installer
DescriptionUsing PXE Boot installer starts loading files but gets stuck during boot process with the message.
dracut-initqueue[902]: RTNETLINK answers: File exists
Please find rdsosreport.txt attached for more info.
Steps To ReproduceHere is my bootloader config for PXEBoot.

[root@PXE pxelinux.cfg]# cat /var/lib/tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg/default
default vesamenu.c32
prompt 0
# Local Hard Disk pxelinux.cfg default entry
LABEL 1
MENU LABEL ^1) Boot from local hard drive
    menu default
    localboot 0xffff
LABEL 2
MENU LABEL ^2) Install CentOS 8
    KERNEL CENTOS8/vmlinuz
    APPEND initrd=CENTOS8/initrd.img ip=dhcp inst.repo=http://192.168.10.50/CENTOS8/ISO/
LABEL 3
MENU LABEL ^3) Install CentOS 8 with basic video driver
    KERNEL CENTOS8/vmlinuz
    APPEND initrd=CENTOS8/initrd.img ip=dhcp inst.xdriver=vesa inst.repo=http://192.168.10.50/CENTOS8/ISO/
LABEL 4
MENU LABEL ^4) Rescue installed system
    KERNEL CENTOS8/vmlinuz
    APPEND initrd=CENTOS8/initrd.img rescue
LABEL 5
MENU LABEL ^5) Boot from Clonezilla Live
    KERNEL clonezilla/live/vmlinuz
    APPEND ramdisk_size=2048 initrd=clonezilla/live/initrd.img boot=live union=overlay username=user config components noswap edd=on nomodeset noeject locales=en_US.UTF-8 keyboard-layouts=NONE net.ifnames=0 ocs_live_extra_param="" ocs_live_keymap="NONE" ocs_live_batch="yes" ocs_lang="en_US.UTF-8" vga=788 ip=frommedia nosplash fetch=tftp://192.168.10.50/clonezilla/live/filesystem.squashfs

When I select 2nd label "Install CentOS 8" system is starting boot using KERNEL CENTOS8/vmlinuz and initrd=CENTOS8/initrd.img , it starts initilizing all the hardware but somehow not able to re-initilize NIC.

Additional InformationIMPORTANT INFO: My TestVM is using HyperV using Legacy NIC for pxelinux.0 boot (non-UEFI) .
After failing to boot the second phase of installation, the system enters into the emergency mode with instructions for me to file this bug report by uploading /run/initramfs/rdsosreport.txt which is attached to this ticket.

I have the same issue using 1905 or 1911.
Redhat has something that looked to be related to this issue where they reference an .iso LABEL
that should be entered as such: inst.repo=CentOS-8-1-1911-x86_64-dvd:http://serverofhttp/pathtoinstalltree
I saw this work for a brief time, yet it only loaded the installer without loading the inst.ks=http://server/ks.cfg

However, it stopped working somehow and as I said, never worked to automate an install via a kickstart file.

In summary, using the label as RedHat specifies in now the proper procedure, does not reliably work and no kickstarts can be loaded.
Therefore this entire mechanism does not work, although there are many pages online demonstrating how to do it, which indicates the authors were able to do it.

It seems a likely correlation, and I forgot to mention in my previous note, but I am also using Hyper V.
