Summary0017484: Problems after update with microcode_ctl-2.1-61.6.el7_8.x86_64
DescriptionHello,

after installing update microcode_ctl-2.1-61.6.el7_8.x86_64 my laptop didn't boot anymore.
OS is CentOS 7.8 with kernel 3.10.0-1127.10.1.el7.x86_64.

dmidecode shows:
----------------------------------------------------------
Processor Information
        Socket Designation: U3E1
        Type: Central Processor
        Family: Core i5
        Manufacturer: Intel(R) Corporation
        ID: E3 06 04 00 FF FB EB BF
        Signature: Type 0, Family 6, Model 78, Stepping 3
----------------------------------------------------------
The system boots okay again if one replaces the first part of initramfs with the
one of a previous version.

In both cases GenuineIntel.bin, which is contained in the early_cpio of the initramfs,
is /usr/share/microcode_ctl/ucode_with_caveats/intel/intel-ucode/06-4e-03.
The older working version is d6 and the new version is dc.

It seems like other people have similar issues:
