Summary0017751: fmk8lab02 kernel: XFS: runc:[1:CHILD](29133) possible memory allocation deadlock in kmem_zone_alloc (mode:0x8250)
DescriptionWe are facing server hang issue with CentOS7.7 server configured in kubernetes cluster with below error messages in system logs

Sep 24 05:38:39 fmk8lab02 kernel: XFS: runc:[1:CHILD](29133) possible memory allocation deadlock in kmem_zone_alloc (mode:0x8250)
Sep 24 05:38:41 fmk8lab02 kernel: XFS: runc:[1:CHILD](29133) possible memory allocation deadlock in kmem_zone_alloc (mode:0x8250)
Sep 24 05:38:43 fmk8lab02 kernel: XFS: runc:[1:CHILD](29133) possible memory allocation deadlock in kmem_zone_alloc (mode:0x8250)

I tried to drop caches, but it doesn't seem to help.
echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
echo 2 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches

Doesn’t seems to be filesystem fragmentation issue as the frag factor is below 1% on the disk data is getting written, more looks like memory fragmentation issue.

CentOS 7.7 is no longer supported for almost an year. Please update to the most current version ( i.e 7.8 and all updates ) and verify if you still encounter the problem
