Summary | 0017823: After 24 (or more hours) audio becomes crackley,
Description | When running youtube (in firefox or chrome) or vlc, after 24 hours logged in, the audio starts crackling after one track ends and the next begins. closing the browser or vlc does not fix the problem, however, logging out and back in may fix it, but rebooting does fix it.
Steps To Reproduce | log in via the gnome desktop. open firefox start a video playing after 24 hours, the next video will have crackly audio (which is odd considering its digital audio)
Additional Information | this is a dell pc running CentOS 8, 8G memory, Intel Core i5-3550 @ 3.3GHz x 4, NVC1 graphics, Gnome 3.32.2 the sound is via HDMI to a samsung UN43J5200, input is via logitech usb mouse/keyboard. These errors show up in /var/log/messages, but I'm not sure if they 1) are related or 2) will help: Oct 30 17:44:34 o7010 firefox.desktop[2889]: [Child 3053, MediaDecoderStateMachine #1] WARNING: Decoder=7f9223797400 Decode error: NS_ERROR_DOM_MEDIA_FATAL_ERR (0x806e0005) - RefPtr<mozilla::MozPromise<RefPtr<mozilla::MediaTrackDemuxer::SamplesHolder>, mozilla::MediaResult, true> > mozilla::MediaSourceTrackDemuxer::DoGetSamples(int32_t): manager is detached.: file /builddir/build/BUILD/firefox-78.2.0/dom/media/MediaDecoderStateMachine.cpp, line 3470 Oct 30 17:44:44 o7010 firefox.desktop[2889]: [Child 3053, MediaDecoderStateMachine #1] WARNING: Decoder=7f9202970c00 Decode error: NS_ERROR_DOM_MEDIA_FATAL_ERR (0x806e0005) - RefPtr<mozilla::MozPromise<RefPtr<mozilla::MediaTrackDemuxer::SamplesHolder>, mozilla::MediaResult, true> > mozilla::MediaSourceTrackDemuxer::DoGetSamples(int32_t): manager is detached.: file /builddir/build/BUILD/firefox-78.2.0/dom/media/MediaDecoderStateMachine.cpp, line 3470 Oct 30 17:44:44 o7010 firefox.desktop[2889]: [Child 3053, MediaDecoderStateMachine #1] WARNING: Decoder=7f9202970c00 Decode error: NS_ERROR_DOM_MEDIA_FATAL_ERR (0x806e0005) - RefPtr<mozilla::MozPromise<RefPtr<mozilla::MediaTrackDemuxer::SamplesHolder>, mozilla::MediaResult, true> > mozilla::MediaSourceTrackDemuxer::DoGetSamples(int32_t): manager is detached.: file /builddir/build/BUILD/firefox-78.2.0/dom/media/MediaDecoderStateMachine.cpp, line 3470 I don't have any logs from a time when vlc was exhibiting the same issue.

I have the problem again. The uptime on the system is 13h20m and I've confirmed that the issue happens in both Firefox (youtube) and Chrome (vimeo), and VLC ( .ogg file burned from cd). Also, after the video is stopped in the browsers or the audio stopped in VLC, the static continues for more than 3 seconds. I'm going to log out and back in and see if that resolves the issue temporarily. |

Its not an audio bug. At least I no longer think that its an audio bug. I Just logged out of my system by clicking the power button, selecting my ID, and clicking Log Out. The system hung at this point and did not return me to a login prompt. In order to get a response, i had to power the system off, and back on. I have attached a chunk of /var/log/messages (with ips, macs and network names changed) below.
