We are trying to create a new set of repos so we can build the x86 versions of that kernel with secureboot enabled. That is why they currently have no kernels. I will be trying to get them populated this week.

In the interim, is it possible to keep the latest previous versions in the 7.9 directory from the 7.8? That would help new installs that are kickstarted to include the centos-kernel and now fail.

This transition must be more involved that originally thought. Thank you for any help moving forward. Is there an opportunity to for the interim "fix" noted previously?

Just FYI, ELRepo will be updating kernel-lt to 5.4 very soon. But don't tell anyone until it is officially announced. ;-)

Please note that ELRepo's kernels are not SB-enabled.

kernel-lt-5.4.86-1.el7.elrepo is out. :)

As a note to this kernel-5.4 build, please include the "dell_rbu.ko"
The 3.10 and mainline have it:
Thank you.

@toracat ; I will check with some test system about using the updated LT kernel. Thank you.

Note on elrepo kernels in relation to CentOS altarch kernel:
elrepo churn is very high updates are every other day based on current (every other day):
    kernel-lt-5.4.90-1.el7.elrepo.x86_64.rpm 2021-01-17 15:33 50M
     kernel-lt-5.4.91-1.el7.elrepo.x86_64.rpm 2021-01-19 13:07 50M
But it does include the dell_rbu.ko:
rpm -qlp kernel-lt-5.4.91-1.el7.elrepo.x86_64.rpm |grep dell_rbu

Unless dead, I'd prefer the CentOS (more?)stable version, please. Secureboot is not an issue for our installs if that is the only hold-up otherwise. My current suggest/hope is to keep the latest previous versions from the 7.8 directory in the 7.9 directory.

The CentOS version isn't "more stable". It's just updated less often.

ELRepo package and ship every release that is put out by Linus. The CentOS version of that package just gets updated when someone notices that there's a high severity CVE present in the current one. There are no backported patches for the CentOS non-distro kernel. You get what's put out by the upstream (in this case the 5.4 LTS kernel).

Thank you for posting the updated kernels. This issue is effectively resolved at this point.
I appreciate all of the collective effort and guidance given.
