Summary | 0017964: file -b misclassifies PHP file as C++ file
Description | I'm working on CentOS 7, x86_64, fully patched. 'file -b' works well for some (most?) PHP files: # file -b rest.php PHP script, ASCII text However, it returns C++ for some PHP files: # file -b profileinfo.php C++ source, UTF-8 Unicode text
Steps To Reproduce | Please run file(1) on the PHP file profileinfo.php.zip. The file is attached. profileinfo.php.txt.zip is the result of 'file -b -d profileinfo.php'.
Additional Information | The files(1) man page says to report bugs at bugs.gw.com. The site is dead and none of the URLs work. The bug report was filed at the distro rather than the package. Sorry about that. $ man 1 file ... BUGS Please report bugs and send patches to the bug tracker at http://bugs.gw.com/ or the mailing list at ⟨file@mx.gw.com⟩.
