Summary | 0018081: Sum of MemTotal values in /sys/devices/system/node/nodex/meminfo is less than the total memory
Description | On a 2 sockets server, I see that the sum of the two MemTotal values in /sys/devices/system/node/node1/meminfo and /sys/devices/system/node/node0/meminfo is less than the total one (i.e. the one reported in /proc/meminfo). On some servers we saw a ~6 % difference, in some other servers the difference was much less. One of the consequence of this problem is that the total memory available through virtualization is less than the one installed on the server We see this problem with kernel-4.18.0-240.10.1.el8_3.x86_64 We tried to downgrade to kernel-4.18.0-193.28.1.el8_2.x86_64 and the problem disappeared
Steps To Reproduce | Compare the sum of MemTotal values in /sys/devices/system/node/nodex/meminfo with the value in /proc/meminfo on a server running centos8.3 with kernel 4.18.0-240.10.1.el8_3.x86_64
