Description | Today I installed CentOS Stream 8 on a new laptop, and the default profile was "throughput-performance". This lead the CPU frequency governor to be set to "performance", so all CPUs always ran at 3.4GHz even when idle, making the laptop hot, the fan noisy even under slow loads, and the battery life shorter.
Would it be possible to use the "balanced" profile by default for workstations? That seems to be the intended result in RHEL according to https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/html/monitoring_and_managing_system_status_and_performance/getting-started-with-tuned_monitoring-and-managing-system-status-and-performance |
