The issue is NOT if a word form containing the word fragments 'hat' and 'red' is present. rather it is if a formal TRADEMARK (as opposed to mere identification), or non-free (i.e., copyrighted and not under a GPL [former approach] or CC [present approach] or other freely redistributable license) images are present

The mere 'use' of the word fragments when used as identifiers is not a problem

Red Hat initially isolated this type of content to two packages:
and the install time 'images' file for anaconda

In recent upstream product, I also see;

Over time, Fedora has acted to track down and get licenses cleaned up and reviewed, and we benefit from that effort

We may WANT to alter a given piece of branding art, but please do not conflate with with 'need' to remove a trademarked item

In this case I guess we can close this as NOTABUG. And as Russ has pointed out, we'll have to replace redhat-logos, it contains content which we cannot ship. including /usr/share/pixmaps/poweredby.png

On the second thought.. Russ, can you please examine /usr/share/pixmaps/redhat-main-menu.png ?

Well, I confirm that the /usr/share/pixmaps/redhat-main-menu.png logo would have to be changed by something else .. Putting on 'Confirmed' (as a QA member) and waiting for official centos dev-team answer ...

As commented above

upstream characterizes the use license of this art as:
License: GPLv2+
in its .SPEC file. It looks as though 'half the job' on de-identifying in Fedora was done

as such it is perhaps proper to bring this to their attention as needing conversion to 'system-' nameing
