Summary0004640: The mail_search_full function always returns false
DescriptionI'm using an implementation of the libc-client library in php-imap.

I have reported the bug at, but have been advised that the bug lies in this library and should report it to the operating system.

The full bug report can be found here:

I'm not sure whether this is enough for you so, if you require any further diagnosis, please by all means, let me know.

Are you sure that this is a report against CentOS 4? Anyway, where did you get that php version? CentOS doesn't ship 5.3.3 - neither in 4 nor 5 nor centos-testing or the centosplus repository.

CentOS-4 does not provide php 5.3.3, only php-4.3.9-3.29 as of today.
Is it reproduceable with the stock php version?

If the answer is "yes" with libc-client-2002e-14, it should definitely be entered upstream for fixing.

This is my development machine:

[root@blade ~]# php -v
PHP 5.2.13 (cli) (built: Mar 2 2010 15:39:06)
Copyright (c) 1997-2010 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.2.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies

[root@blade ~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 4.8 (Final)

[root@blade ~]# find /var/cache/yum -name php-5.2.13*

This is a production machine running cPanel:

root@peach [~]# php -v
PHP 5.3.3 (cgi-fcgi) (built: Nov 21 2010 21:42:50)
Copyright (c) 1997-2010 The PHP Group
Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies

root@peach [~]# cat /etc/redhat-release
CentOS release 4.8 (Final)

Although I've yet to try the stock PHP4 on CentOS4, as per the PHP bug tracker, it's unlikely to be an issue in PHP itself and more likely to be an issue with the library.

I may also get around to testing it on CentOS5 with PHP5 to see if I can reproduce the bug.

Do you think this bug should be reported to atomic repository and cPanel instead?

Ah, okay, that wasn't clear to me. If that actually is a bug in libc-client, then it needs to be reported at our upstream's bugzilla. CentOS 5 has a newer version of that (2004g-2.2.1 vs 2002e), so maybe that bug has been fixed in there.

Are you able to report it to the upstream's bugzilla or is this something I need to do?

Would you like to update the status or do you require any further information from me?

2010-11-26 15:44

Well, I am the completely wrong person to check if someone has questions about that bug, so I guess you should report it upstream, *BUT* with the php version which is in CentOS.

Who is the right person to ask?

You're suggesting I should go ahead and report it to the Redhat Buzilla then?

2010-11-28 13:22

Yes, as you are the person seeing this bug and probably are able to answer further questions to this behaviour, should they arise.

as stated in the upstream bugzilla entry, upstream EL4 and thus CentOS4 is EOL.
