|Summary||0005736: when rsyslog restarts, named stops logging to rsyslog|
|Description||rsyslog restarts weekly, named stopps logging to rsyslog at that time.|
|Steps To Reproduce||try it yourself.|
|Additional Information||doesnt help to restart rsyslog, I have to restart named to make it log to rsyslog again.|
Its running inside KVM if it matters.
Linux x.y.z 2.6.32-220.13.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Tue Apr 17 23:56:34 BST 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
It happends on two DIFFERENT KVM guests so its not just this one.

I had same problem (on real HW - no VM). I suppose you're using chrooted bind.
You have to add this line to rsyslog.conf config file:
Ensure you use right path to the chrooted /dev.
Yes, its chrooted.
I had no idea this was needed, it wasnt needed before.
Didnt even have log in the chroot but copied it from /dev/log.
If I dont add any more note to this ticket I guess it helped.
