Summary0005789: Useless alignment warning
Description"Warning: The resulting partition is not properly aligned for best performance" -- parted not only doesn't tell you what exactly what it's complaining about, it doesn't offer any hints as to the solution. Fdisk, on the other hand, seems to offer sane defaults:

Using parted-2.1-17.el6.x86_64 on a 2TB disk:

(parted) mkpart
Partition name? []?
File system type? [ext2]?
Start? 64
End? -1
Warning: You requested a partition from 64s to 3907029167s.
The closest location we can manage is 64s to 3907029134s.
Is this still acceptable to you?
Yes/No? Y
Warning: The resulting partition is not properly aligned for best performance.

As opposed to fdisk's "Partition 1 does not start on physical sector boundary" and:

command (m for help): n
Command action
   e extended
   p primary partition (1-4)
p
Partition number (1-4): 1
First sector (63-3907029167, default 64):
Using default value 64
Last sector, +sectors or +size{K,M,G} (64-3907029167, default 3907029167):
Using default value 3907029167

-- and no complaint afterwards:
...
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes
Additional Information(I realise all you can do is bug the upstream, hopefully if enough people do that they'll fix their code eventually.)
