Summary0005793: USB 3 module xhci_hcd
Descriptionxhci_hcd will not properly detect a USB device, and the device never appears under lsusb.

Note this has been documented in Ubuntu bug tracker (google found it easily) but nothing under Centos. Hope this helps.
Steps To ReproduceBoot system, OR, reload the xhci_hcdi. Plug in USB device, and dmesg shows:
Timeout while waiting for a slot

when plugging in the device. In this case it's a USB 2 device being plugged into the USB 3 controller. 3 different USB devices all cause same problem.
Additional Informationdmesg output after reload xhci_hcdi (same as when initially loaded):

Small correction...the error message: "Timeout while waiting for a slot" only appears if you reboot/reload module with a device plugged into the controller!

If you boot the system without a device, the error above does not appear. However, when you plug in the USB device, it is never detected.

if I add the kernel parameter pci=nomsi then the devices are detected normally.

I have a similar problem on a HP Elite 8300.

Centos 6.3 - kernel 2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.i686

Problem with wacom tablet. When tablet is turned off and on again system doesn't detect it.

usb 3-3: USB disconnect, device number 2
usb 3-3: new full speed USB device number 3 using xhci_hcd
usb 3-3: Device not responding to set address.
usb 3-3: Device not responding to set address.
usb 3-3: device not accepting address 3, error -71
hub 3-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 3

If you unload/load xhci_hci driver or reconnet to another USB port (ports are usb 3.0) then the device gets detected again. Disconnet on the same USB port doesn't work.

pci=nomsi doesn't help.

(Same tablet on CentOS 5.8, working ok).
