|Summary||0006174: modem applet panel icon goes away|
using a kppp gui dialup to ISP to establish ppp,
upon user gui gnome logout and logging back in
( not switch user, and not reboot )
the modem dialer applet icon in the panel disappears
leaving the user with no modem control.
The modem stays ppp connected.
|Steps To Reproduce|
dial isp using kppp.
get ppp connection ( validate with web browser )
log out as user and back in again ( same user )
modem stays connected ( tcpdump -i ppp0)
but no applet is seen in gui panel.
click kppp applet icon, and then in that menu click details.
In that window, if you click the upper right "close" (X)
the icon also disappears. HOW is it retrieved ??
I tried listing ps aex and then
killing all kppp and pppd daemons to no effect.
It took a reboot to get it back, and even then kppp
gui was sluggish ( cannot describe how )...
