Summary0006309: Screen goes blank at boot with kernel-2.6.32-358.0.1.el6.i686; kernel-2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.i686 is OK
DescriptionI just upgraded from CentOS 6.3 + updates to CentOS 6.4 + updates.

Platform: CentOS 6.4 (i386) on Dell Precision T3500 workstation
Memory: 12GB RAM
Display: 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation G98 [Quadro NVS 295] (rev a1)

My /etc/grub.conf has the following 2 stanzas:

title CentOS (2.6.32-358.0.1.el6.i686)
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.32-358.0.1.el6.i686 ro root=LABEL=/ rd_NO_LUKS rd_NO_LVM LANG=en_US.UTF-8 rd_NO_MD quiet SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 rhgb crashkernel=auto KEYBOARDTYPE=pc KEYTABLE=us rd_NO_DM nouveau.noaccel=1 rdblacklist=nouveau
    initrd /initramfs-2.6.32-358.0.1.el6.i686.img
title CentOS (2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.i686)
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.i686 ro root=LABEL=/ rd_NO_LUKS rd_NO_LVM LANG=en_US.UTF-8 rd_NO_MD quiet SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 rhgb crashkernel=auto KEYBOARDTYPE=pc KEYTABLE=us rd_NO_DM nouveau.noaccel=1 rdblacklist=nouveau
    initrd /initramfs-2.6.32-279.22.1.el6.i686.img

When I attempt to boot 2.6.32-358.0.1.el6, the screen goes black immediately at the point "Starting udev" is printed. I'm not able to ping my workstation so I don't think it ever completes booting. If I add "nomodeset" to the kernel arguments, the system boots but the display resolution is low.

I can boot the older 2.6.32-279.22.1.el6 kernel and everything runs and displays fine, even with newer xorg-x11 packages, etc.

I need to run without nouveau acceleration as I have artifacts and display corruption with acceleration enabled (been running this way for a couple of years). If I re-enable acceleration, the system boots but I have display problems, so I need a way to boot the newer CentOS 6.4 kernel using the nouveau driver but without acceleration.
Steps To Reproduce1. Boot with CentOS 6.4 kernel, with nouveau acceleration disabled
