|Platform||16GB RAM AMD 64||OS||CentOS||OS Version||6.4|
|Summary||0006363: Qemu process is oom killed despite free memory|
|Description||Since the most recent updates, I've started to see this error more than once a day on various KVM's on the master server.|
|Steps To Reproduce||Install and run a Ubuntu server (12.04.2), add LAMP stack to it and use it as per a normal server. (this also affects servers with lighttpd and without MySQL).|
|Additional Information||There is further information of what I've found so far at https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=42193&forum=55 |
The OOM follows pretty much exactly what is reported in that bug. Feel free to contact me if you want me to attach a couple of the reports from my /var/log/message file. I don't have CentOS VM's running on the server at present, but am happy to install one if it will help. The ubuntu server VM's have been running happily until my last update.

|According to the BZs you referenced in your forum post, the problem was identified and the patche(es) have been applied to / considered for Fedora and RHEL 7. If you are seeing the same issue in CentOS 6, you may want to clone the upstream BZ against RHEL 6. This way, the fix might be backported to EL6 upstream. CentOS will then (and only then) inherit it.|
I've had a chat on #fedora I am going to install F18 which has all the patches already in. They 'may' flag it up, but it seems that they would want some one from centos 6 to flag it to RL6
phillw, depending on how you feel about using Fedora in a "production" environment..you might want to file against EL6 and see if someone backports it pretty quicky..seems very fresh
I'm a QA person, I report bugs.
