Summary0006677: drm: upgrade 6.4 kernel to 2.6.32-358.18.1 on thinkpad t60 boot hung
DescriptionAfter upgrading a CentOS 6.4 to 2.6.32-358.18.1 today the systems hung in boot after the message:
"[drm] Driver supports precise vblank timestamp query."

Adding "nomodeset" or "radeon.modeset=0" to the kernel resolves the issue.

Most likely the ATI driver for your model does not work with the version of xorg (1.13) updated in CentOS 6.4. For more details on this issue, please see :

The system works with an older 6.4 release kernel (2.6.32-220.el6.i686) from which it was updated

kernel 2.6.32-220.el6 is from CentOS 6.2. 6.4 kernels are all 2.6.32-358.x.

As noted, this is not a kernel issue but rather is related to the version of X. Please show us the output returned by:

rpm -q xorg-x11-server-Xorg
