Product Version | 6.4 | ||||
Summary | 0006722: Kernel randomly crashes (KVM related)
Description | Kernel randomly crashes on virtualization hosts. SELinux: disabled uname: Linux io6 2.6.32-358.23.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Oct 16 18:37:12 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Hardware: CPU - Intel Xeon E3-1270v3 Motherboard - Supermicro X10SLE-F/HF RAM - Hynix/Hyundai HMT41GE7MFR8C-PB Storage - HDD, SSD dirves (several vendors) Please refer to the crash information in the attached image. After the 3-d incident I have enabled kernel crashdump, so I will provide the crashdump as soon as it happens again :)
Steps To Reproduce | 1. Install CentOS 6.4 2. Install packages form list (attached) 3. Run several virtual machines and simulate high load (CPU, IO)
Additional Information | Different kinds of guest databases, data processing machines, but all of them are CentOS 6.4(x86_64) I have strange messages in dmesg: kvm: 1808: cpu0 disabled perfctr wrmsr: 0xc1 data 0xabcd As for CentOS 6.2-6.3, (different hardware, but same guest machines) everything worked properly.

vmcore-dmesg added | |
The info from vmcore seems to suggest this is a hardware problem. Your statement "As for CentOS 6.2-6.3, (different hardware, but same guest machines) everything worked properly." also agrees with that view. Can you try installing 6.4 on the hardware that is known to work with CentOS 6.2-6.3? Conversely, install CentOS 6.3 on the problematic machine and see if that makes any difference. Also consider contacting the hardware vendor? |
