Summary0008354: New /etc/redhat-release format breaks tools
DescriptionSomehow the CentOS Project decided to change the format of /etc/redhat-release within a minor version change (7.0 to 7.1)

While in 7.0 it read

CentOS Linux release 7.0.1406 (Core)

on 7.1 it reads

Derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 (Source)

This *breaks* tools that try to parse that output such as facter:

https://tickets.puppetlabs.com/browse/FACT-893

given that this might affect *tons* of automation scripts this should not have been a change to be done within a minor release. It has the potential to break a lot of automation scripts.

Steps To ReproduceUpgrade to 7.1 and have your automation gone crazy
